New York, New York

People,

A whole lot has happened since I wrote properly in this space. In fact, so much has happened that I don’t think I’m the same person anymore. Fortunately for you though, I don’t feel the need to share the minutiae of my drama-drenched life. One day all that will go in a book, and if you buy it, you will be privy to the details of the struggle and whatever follows it.

To make a long story short, I am now in New York. I got here just a couple of days before election day and will be staying until mid January. So, to the three readers I have, if you happen to be in New York and want to meet up, drop me a line so we can arrange something.

That said, it is exciting to be back in New York! I was supposed to visit in the summer but that didn’t work out due to some obstacles in the form of people, but now things worked themselves out in the oddest way, and I got shipped off here against all expectations.

I am still in a state of wide-eyed disbelief; I wake up in the morning and look out the window and puzzle over how strange life is, how surprise-laden it can be. To me, it has been nothing short of miserable for the past year, miserable and lonely and full of conflict. A change was welcome, and it came at a high price. I had to drop the semester, halt my Italian classes, risk losing my job, and say goodbye to loved ones for a generous period of time. I had to put some distance between myself and the fights, and the Atlantic seemed like enough distance.

I am off now to savor my newly-regained, uncensored sanity. That ought to be fun! Woohoo!
